A meeting of the SUNY Board of Trustees’ Charter Schools Committee (the “Committee”) was held today, Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Attendees included Committee members and staff of the SUNY Charter Schools Institute (the “Institute”) as well as some representatives of the schools undergoing votes by the Committee. 

The Committee addressed the following resolutions:

The Committee discussed and unanimously approved the proposed full-term charter renewal applications for the following schools:

The Committee discussed and unanimously approved the following charter revisions:

  • Beginning with Children Charter School II Proposal to Add a High School Program. See the full revision resolution and Summary of Findings for more information.

The Institute, in its report to the Committee, reported on the following revisions approved by the Institute under the provisions of the SUNY Board of Trustees’ delegation of duties to the Institute:

  • Achievement First Charter Schools requested the following revision:
    • Achievement First Voyager Charter School requested an enrollment decrease to serve 192 students in grades 6-8 starting in the 2021-22 school year through the 2025-26 school year to better align its middle school configuration with the area district schools.
  • Manhattan Charter Schools requested the following revision:
    • Manhattan Charter School requested an enrollment decrease to serve 240 students in grades K-5 for the 2021-22 school year through 2023-24 school year to align charter enrollment with its historical actual enrollment.
  • Merrick Academy – Queens Public Charter School seeks to add two at-risk preferences to its admissions policy for the 2021-22 school year and beyond.

  • Our World Neighborhood Charter School 3
