New York Charter Schools Association Statement on Meisha Ross Porter’s Appointment to NYC Schools Chancellor

“History is made again!  On behalf of the New York Charter Schools Association, I offer congratulations to NYC Schools Chancellor Meisha Ross Porter who is the first Black woman to lead the country’s largest school district.  

She has a tremendous track record of effective leadership in education, including fostering collaboration to achieve the best outcomes for students. It’s ‘been a long time comin.’ I’m so glad the time has come,” said Yomika S. Bennett, Executive Director of the New York Charter Schools Association.
