“On behalf of the Association, I extend congratulations to Dr. Lester W. Young, Jr on his election to Chancellor of the Board of Regents. Throughout his distinguished career, Chancellor-Elect Young has demonstrated a dedication to educational excellence and equity for all students.  His pledge to work to redefine education through improved practices and policies is what all students need, but surely what students who have faced deep inequities in education need right now, particularly in regard to policies and practices that address education equity and social justice issues. I support Chancellor-Elect Young’s vision for a paradigm shift and salute him as he breaks ground as the first African American to serve as Chancellor.  I look forward to his great leadership,” said Yomika S. Bennett, Executive Director of the New York Charter Schools Association.
